About The American Development Initiative

The American Development Initiative (ADI) brings the programming, educational assets and amateur resources of USA Baseball’s Sport  Development Department directly into your community.

The athlete comes first, and the ADI allows partners to engage their athletes in unparalleled ways, providing exclusive access to the latest baseball health and safety initiatives, development-focused programming, skill-based planning, and the most comprehensive evaluative experiences of any sport around the world.

ADI Benefits for Academies

Player Development – American Development Academies will have the opportunity to develop their players by way of ADI programming, educational resources, and the most comprehensive evaluative experience in sports – the Sport Development Athletic Assessment.

Sports Science – Along with the state of the art SD Athletic Assessment, Academies will be provided with cutting-edge research and information in the world of sports science, incorporating pre-season screens, functional movement assessments, and the pulse on the most up-to-date standards, expectations, and curriculum for player health, safety, and success.

Safe Environments – Academy members will provide safe environments for their athletes to learn, train, and compete, by having all Academy coaches and trainers completing a USA Baseball background check and being SafeSport trained.

Baseball Culture and Education – Through the ADI, Academies will provide their athletes with relatable educational information and resources based in science and research, while promoting a holistic approach to development and teaching their athletes to succeed in the proper learning and training environments.

Supporting Communities – American Development Academies have the opportunity to be a hub of information and assistance to all baseball coaches in their community by hosting a free Baseball ACE Coaching Clinic, in partnership with USA Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

ADI Benefits for Leagues

Education – American Development Leagues will provide their athletes and families with relatable educational information and resources based in science and research while promoting a holistic approach to development and teaching their athletes to succeed in the proper learning and training environments.

Sports Science – Leagues will be provided with cutting-edge research and information in the world of sports science, incorporating pre-season screens, functional movement assessments, and the pulse on the most up-to-date standards, expectations, and curriculum for player health, safety, and success.

Safe Environments – League members will provide safe environments for all athletes to learn, practice, and compete, by way of all coaches and administrators completing a USA Baseball background check and being SafeSport trained.

Supporting Communities – American Development League coaches will have the opportunity to attend a free Baseball ACE Coaching Clinic, in partnership with USA Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), at their local American Development Academy.
